Leigh De Wet, Counselling Psychologist, joins Femina Health to assist candidates looking for career guidance.

Counselling Psychologist, Leigh de Wet.

They are suited for anyone from the age of 16 to 65, and are designed to assist either young people who don’t know what course of study or career that they wish to pursue, or for people who have been working for a few years but are interested in a career change.

We use an online assessment tool, which is very user-friendly. The process involves a pre-assessment interview with Leigh, then the assessment itself; and a feedback session with a report provided to the client.

The assessment tells us about the client’s career interests, personality, group roles, and so on, and then we provide the client with a list of about 10 career options that would suit their particular personality, interests and values.

Leigh obtained her Masters in Psychology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and is registered with the Health Professions Council as a Counselling Psychologist. She was a consultant and facilitator with Synergistic Outcomes from August 2007 to 2019 and also lectures Psychology at Varsity College in Westville.

Leigh specialises in programmes and talks in the following areas: Diversity & Value Differences, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Business English and Emotional Intelligence. She is an excellent presenter who is able to use her extensive knowledge to help learners understand themselves, their motivations and their behaviours in order to bring about real change.

Leigh keeps herself busy by volunteering her time at the Open Door Crisis Care Centre in Pinetown, where she helps to train lay counsellors. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, reading, as well as spending time with her family, friends and dogs.
